• Criteria for the use of metal safety barriers
|
| |
Choice of class and containment level: |
| Possible types of accident and the ADI of heavy vehicles in each direction may serve as guiding criteria when deciding the most suitable safety barrier containment classes and levels. |
 |
| Containment level recommended for metal safety barriers depending on risk of accident |
| |
Choice of working width and dynamic deflection: |
The working width class chosen will depend on the transverse distance to the obstacle being protected.
When it is necessary to protect a vehicle from falling from a height the transverse distance to the drop should be equal to or less than the dynamic deflection.
|
 |
| |
Transverse distance to the obstacle (d0) and UNE EN-1317 working width classes
|
| |
Choice of severity index: |
| If containment levels and transverse displacement during impact are equal, severity index level A shall be preferred to level B; level C may only be used when expressly authorized. |
