The optimum handling and application temperature to ensure suitable adherence and to avoid any stretching or tearing in the sheeting is 25±3ºC. Relative Humidity should not exceed 60%.
Before application, ensure that he application area or substrate is clean and free from dust. Any particles or foreign bodies stuck to the surface should be eliminated.
Operatives should preferably wear cotton or silk gloves to avoid damaging or dirtying the surface of the retroreflective sheeting.

Hand Application:
The application area must be thoroughly clean and free from dust and foreign objects.
Once the retroreflective sheet has been cut, and before removing the release film, position it in the application zone and hold it in place using adhesive tape.
Peel away and cut off approximately 10 cm. of release film on one side and fix the retroreflective sheet to the substrate, taking care to ensure that no wrinkles appear.
(Fig. 5)
|
Repeat this operation for subsequent sections of between 10 and 25 cm. until the whole sheet is attached to the substrate. (Fig.6)
|
Make sure that there are no air pockets or wrinkles between the sheeting and the substrate. Use a hand roller, pressing down newly attached sections of sheeting with one half of the roller and the previously attached section with the other half. Each stroke with the roller should be in a straight line and parallel to the other strokes.
If two pieces of sheeting are to be applied on one single substrate, they should be spliced horizontally with the top panel overlapping the bottom panel by between 5 and 10 mm. |
