Both systems are designed to restrain both vehicles and motorcycles, preventing them from leaving the road as the result of an accident.
They are based on the restraint system known as BMSNA4/120a, recommended by Spain’s Ministry of Public Works. This BMSNA4/120a, which has a containment level of N2 for vehicles, is fitted with a symmetrically shaped guardrail the bottom edge of which is 60 mm. from the floor in the AS-SM6.A- design and 30 mm. in the SCCM- design. In case of motorcycle collision, performance of the two systems is thus optimized, as described in Standard UNE-135900. |

The lower barrier is attached to the BMSNA4/120a system using a special mounting bracket which curves to match the shape of the barriers and is fitted to them at their central mounting holes.
Thanks to this arrangement, the lower barrier, when a motorcycle crashes into it, bends to absorb the energy released by the impact. The mounting brackets and the rest of the system also bend, to a greater or lesser extent, thus making the system sufficiently rigid to contain vehicles and motorcycles but sufficiently flexible to prevent brusque deceleration. |
