The AS-BLB.A vehicle restraint system is a system specifically designed to be fitted along the edges of road carriageways to restrain vehicles which may otherwise leave the road as the result of accidents. It prevents vehicles from colliding with off-road obstacles, plunging down steep slopes or entering other road lanes.
For every four-metre stretch of road the system includes a W-beam guardrail, a 1,500 mm. high C-120 post and a standard spacer, assembled using M10 and M16 bolts with their corresponding nuts and washers. |
| 2. Advantages of the System |
| • Most of its components are the same as those used in the systems that have been fitted on many of our roads in recent years, and this facilitates: |
a) The adaptation of the existing systems
to comply with Standard UNE EN-1317 by simply changing three bolts and their respective nuts and washers and adding a new, rectangular washer.
b) Maintenance and replacement work
using the same components. |

c) The fitting of new stretches of crash barrier
or the extension of existing stretches on roads which are already protected, with no need for transitions and without any noticeable changes
in appearance. |
| • The system can easily be adapted to incorporate a motorcyclist protection system. |
